    Default my new Paphiopedilum ...!

    Hi everyone!

I bought this orchid about one year ago, she finally decided to start flowering the last month, and is still flowering. I wanted to know which cross could it be, i'm wondering about the here so talked P. 'Delophyllum', but the lip doesn't look like so much like the pictures i've seen until now!!

Can someone please give me a help??
(thank you for feeding my orchid vicious!!)

It looks like a Paph. Thomas Fourman to me. Drats! I have one that's big and healthy and I'm waiting for its first bloom and you beat me to it!!!

It's a primary hybrid between liemianum x malipoense. Very nice blooms!

    And welcome to the forum!

very crisp blooms. If it didn't come with a name it will be very hard to ID it positively. It is definitely one of the cochlopetalum x delenatii hybrids such as Delophyllum, but there are a bunch of them out there that all look very similar.

It certainly is a beautiful flower....

and I'm going with Jason on the cochlopetalum x delenatii...

the cochlo parent would give that type of marking on the petals... also, notice that there are four buds... indication of a multifloral as a parent (even delenatii only ever gets two flowers at a time).

the fairly clean dorsal sepal is what is throwing me off a bit... I think out of the cochlo's we can rule out chamberlainianum (victoria-regina), liemianum, moquettianum and victoria-mariae.... all these will add markings on the dorsal...

so that leaves us with glaucophyllum and primulinum (I think var. purpurascens rather than the plain green).

so do with the above information what you will... but remember to take it with a grain of salt

    Talking tks

    Hi again!

thank you very much for all your replies!! It's nice to be able to chat with people that know about the subject, something not so easy to find around my friends!!

I think i could have here actually a big mixture, yes! There's a shop nearby selling orchids for less than one dollar each, some because they can not sell them anymore without buds or flowers and others because they have bad diseases (fungus, virus,...) what makes the choice totally difficult and dangerous for my own plants at home!!! Anyways i have fun with it, choosing the best i can get from them, specially because of the nice prices (1 - 3 dollars max.).

I like to chat here and i'll post some more stuff to keep in touch with you guys!
    Bye!

    Diogo.
