Sorry I don't know much about them. I'm sure one of the more experienced growers should be able to set you straight. I think you may want to post this thread in the general orchid culture or genus specific section. As of now it's in the Using the Boards forum. If you have trouble, I'm sure one of the mods can move the thread for you. They seem very helpful in that regard. Good luck with your new acquisition.

    What is the hybrid?

These are basically oncidium and miltoniopsis, meaning they tend to grow a bit cooler than oncidiums, but a lot depends upon the background.

The name Vuystekeara is obsolete now after changes to the Oncidium alliance, and the plants that were once called Vuylstekeara are now either Oncidopsis (with Miltoniopsis) or Miltonidium (with Miltonia), and it will make a difference as far as how much heat the plant will tolerate whether there is Miltonia or Miltoniopsis in the background. Other than temperature, the culture will be the same as for any other intergeneric Oncidium. They like lots of water, so never let it dry out. They like more light than Phals, but less than Catts. If you can keep the days not much hotter than 80, I think you'll be fine whichever hybrid it is, but if it is a Miltonidium, it will tolerate hotter temperatures. I have both Miltonidium and Oncidopsis plants, and I grow my plants outside on the porch in the summer, and at windows and under lights in the winter. I treat them all the same, except in the hottest part of the summer, I bring the Oncidopsis plants back inside the house, but the Miltonidiums can stay outside. All of this varies depending on the percentage of cool growing parents in the plant's background, but in general this has worked for me. Do you know the complete name of your plant?
