    Cool Ascda Burning Sands 'Mary Motes' HCC/AOS

    Always a lovely bloomer, this tiny vanda type orchid never disappoints. I hope you enjoy it too. My good friend Gin gave it to me several years ago. I always think of her when it is blooming.

    Ascocendas are my favorite. All of them are beautiful, and this one is no exception, Bruce. But I read that Ascocenda is no longer the official nomenclature for this type and instead, they are now called Vanda, since Ascocentrum is also now to be referred to as Vanda. I hope they bring back the term "Ascocenda" because it sets apart this lovely and colorful group from the rest of the tribe.

    Arne' right. The correct name and updated award status is now Vanda Motes Burning Sands 'Mary Motes' AM/AOS.

    The only registered hybrid that is named "Burning Sands" is a phalaenopsis.
