Okay Hoa - I went out and actually turned it around and - well, here is what I found!

Oh, and remember that little $7.50 Onc Flexuosum bareroot that I bought, you laughed because I picked the only one with a little tiny spike showing. Well - IT LIKES ME!!!

Hi Diane,
See I told you it is still a very young plant and I am glad that Murray agrees!!! Hehehhehe! Only a puppy!!! Hehehhhhehe!!! Don't water the speciosum too much, let it dry out before watering again. That is why these plants are good for you! You can go on for your trips weeks on end without worrying about the plants die on you for being too dry. And they are also very forgiving if you happen to overwatering them, not like many other dends or orchids! At some point, you could repot the plant in rocks instead of barks or coconut husk chips. You know they call these guys 'rock lilies' for a reason! Just enjoying this plant. It only asks for a minimal care from you. Your plant might bloom next year. The spike might be small but in time, it will be hugemongous!

Well, the other plants that you bought seem to be doing well. The flexuosum should bloom at this time of the year. Congrats! I will take a closer look at your plants to see how they are doing when we go shopping for orchids in July!!!

I have been salivating your speciosum since I saw it in your avatar. Very nice yellow color. It looks like a grandiflorum variety?

My Den speciosum has produced a new cane & i,m really surprised how fast it grew.It just grew roots last year after i put into s/h & this year after a few months of torture(barely watered it & temps kept cool) it started the new cane.
Onc flexuosum is 1 of my favorites , i bought a smallish plant mounted on bark.No idea how to care for it , so into s/h it went.It flowers continuosly now.It spikes from 1 side of the PB with a 3 foot spike.After flowering i cut it back a little & it flowers from 1 of the eyes.Then it produces a spike from the other side & i cut that back after it,s flowered.3 spikes @ the moment , new growth.What a great plant.

Looks like there's a couple of happy plants in the backyard then Diane...

Dend spec... well, I have heard that it takes 12 years to get them to flowering stage from out of flask... wish someone told me that before I bought a community pot!

You bought a dendrobium speciosum's community pot? Who told you to do that? Hehehhhhehe!!! I would never do that. On the brighter side, 12 years from now, you will have many many speciosum to pass around, gifts for friends, donations to orchid society, items for auction .... Hehehheee!!!

I bought it in 2003 so they have grown a fair bit and... out of the 10 plants and I only have three left... two died (one eaten by a puppy) and the other five given away so I am not the only one who has to wait

Very E-VEAL of you, Timmy! Spreading the decade-long waiting period for the child'rin around, huh!
But if I have to wait 12 years for them to bloom and another 12 years for them to reach their full maturity potentials, I would do more than one single compot! There are so many different speciosum varieties, I would do them all! Hehehehhe!!!
