Haven't grown any Cattleya my whole life. I'm sure avid Cattleya growers will give some feedback soon. But how small is small? Picture or measurement (cm or inch) at least may give us some ideas.

I just got two small cattleya Plants (in those plastic bag sleeves from ---- Vendor information removed - see FAQs on Posting ----) and I’m wondering if these could be grown strapped/mounted to a Pygmy date palm (robellini palms).
I’m in zone 9B Port St Lucie, FL and have no shade however the palms offerfiltered high light.
Would this type of orchid survive if not “potted”?
Thanks!

Small Cattleya species like walkeriana 2 inches already show off his beauty if you can get the name of the species/hybrid that would be better.
Cattleyas love being mounted on tree branches, and I have succeeded on half a dozen different kinds of tree species ( here in UK) but here, grown in a greenhouse, they need an awful lot of spraying to give them enough water in their growing season. You will perhaps be growing in the open air, and I have no experience on which to base advice.
I would mount the mini cattleyas on a cork tube for a natural look.
Thanks for all the responses so far....I will check those labels on the bags (I saved them so I can get more info).
Right now I’m hardening then to strong east/SE light in my Lanai on trays with clay pebbles for moisture. It’s so blazing hot here, usually hitting 93 and higher, with heat index way higher. So I keep the large overhead fans on day and night and to prevent drying out my small orchids they sit on trays with clay pebbles which hold some of the rain water or my weekly watering. So far no signs of sunburn on them so that’s a good sign. Even though it’s screened and roofed, the sun comin in there till noon is blazing and so I also have hardened some small oncidiums and phanalopsis and dendrobiums plus the two small cats.
All of these will get mounted outside when the weather gets a bit cooler (daily highs in the upper 80’s).
Since I have no real shade in this house I have planted palms (soil is awful here....super compacted clay and poor drainage). I’ll try and post pics of everything I have mounted so far. It’s a daily treat to come out and see more blooms! Yay!
Thanks for the input and I’ll try and take pics today of my blooming orchids and garden plus the info for those two cats.
