Hello! I just joined so please forgive any errors, I'm not the best with technology.
I just found this oncidium type in my local supermarket, all on it's own, of course it was coming home with me, but they never tag their plants and wonder if anyone has seen it before? It looks similar to so many but not quite the same. Hopefully the photos come up. I've found dendrobium Phalaenopsis, nelly islers and Miltoniopsis beside the normal phals and dendrobium nobiles in there before, it's been a good year for surprise orchid purchases

Wow so nice ...congrats I agree with Yug.
Welcome from Ontario, Canada! Yes, that is an oncidium and probably a species rather than a a hybrid. The flower size is important in determining which one but you need to be accurate and preferably in millimeters. One measure from top to bottom and one from side to side at the widest point.
Hi! I'm from the UK, so far have 41 orchids and climbling lol.
So the bloom I measured was one of the bigger ones, fully open, from top to bottom 45mm, width of the lip 32 and the width from the top two petals is 30mm.
Trying to add a photo of it next to my twinkle, hopefully I get it right, gives an idea of scale.
Thank you all for your thoughts on it, I was surprised to find it, soon as I saw it was like, yep, that's coming home with me, no ifs and or buts I do like oncidiums.

Ah here we go, not sure what happened there.

It sort of resembles Onc. splendidum, but it appears to be a hybrid; Onc. splendidum is larger than yours with somewhat different shape.
Ah yes it does look very similar, thank you it's nice to have a rough idea, especially with care needs, I'm enjoying it whatever it is, needed more yellow blooms and I like the pattern, has quite a wild look to the petals and sepals. I don't know if it helps any but it does now have a scent, at first it's almost like a very sweet white chocolate and then the distinct smell of cloves hits you, but it's not overpowering, doesn't fill the room.
Thank you for your help
