    Default Is this a seed pod?

    Is this a seed pod?I’ve never seen one in person before…
    This is on a mini phalThat is sitting in the window with two other mini phals.I have no idea as to How it was pollinated, or who Donated the pollen! How long does it usually take for seed pod to mature? Thanks!

    Yes. Some orchids self pollinate, or an small insect sneaked in and did the job.

    ...but technically, orchids have capsules, not pods (although that is, by far, the most common usage).

    It depends on the species on what is required for the seed pod to mature, it is a lot of work and may be years before you see your first bloom. Research what is required for your species.

    Thanks to everyone for the info! Have been doing some research,And I have decided that I really don’t want to go through all the hoopla Involved With raising orchids from seeds...
    Although I do have to admit it would be fascinating to see what the flowers would look like. Anyway, thanks again.
