Had this hybrid for sometime. First time flowering for me. I also have Seidenfadenia mitrata and used to have Luisia species. The former difficult to flower, the later difficult to grow. The hybrid of the two genera seemed to be easier for me. Hopefully the spike will survive and bloom beautifully. Will update in two weeks time.
Look forward to seeing the bloom!
Yes I look forward to that as well.
The first bud should open anytime soon. It took longer time to develop than I expected.
Gets frustrating to wait sometimes doesn't it?
It did Jack. But finally, it opened this morning!
I will take some pictures at night. Stay tuned..
I had the plant for about two years and this is first time flowering for me but it had an old spike. I have the feeling that it will be a sequential bloomer. Very difficult to photograph as it is facing down which is a trait of Lsa. sp that has the tendency to face everywhere. I will cross this with my Van. Sugar Baby.
A side story. It is labelled as Lsa. psyche X Sei. mitrata. But after searching online, there are two other Slu. hybrids: Lsa. curtisii x Sei. mitrata (unregistered) and Sei. mitrata X Lsa. thailandica (registered as Slu. Cassandra Marie). All 3 Slu. hybrids look the same to me. I feel very suspicious right now about the parentage. It could be 3 different hybrids which look exactly the same or only one hybrid that is a victim of mislabeling. I wish I could contact the originator of Slu. Cassandra Marie but I don't know how to contact him/her.
What do you guys think? Should I just go by the tag?
It's beautiful.
Nice color!
