Default Moth orchid in bloom loosing top green leaves

Hello, this is my first post! I got a moth orchid for Valentine's Day, and since then I had one top leaf that seemed healthy and was green and thick but it just fell off, and a bottom leaf that was melted which i took of today. The flowers seem fine, I have one bud that is opening and two that dried out and fell the day after it came home. Is it some kind of disease what should I do?

It may be related to getting water in between the leaves when you watered? Phallies typically don’t like that.

Obviously, that leaf developed an infection, and it spread down into the crown.

At this point, I suggest that you sprinkle cinnamon powder in that hole in the crown of the plant - avoid getting it on the roots. It will seal the wound, and being a bactericide and fungicide, may stop the infection.

In essence, you have inadvertently "topped" the plant. Treat the plant normally, and if you're lucky, it'll form a new growth front from its base or side, and carry on.
