    Default Miltoniopsis Repotting

I bought the plant in bud. Flowers gone now and new growth is starting. All good. Pretty sure that the 3" pot is full of roots even though there seems to be enough surface real estate for another growth. I wonder if it's better to go up to a 4" rather than a 5". Don't they like to repotted annually anyway? I'm going to be changing the medium as well. It's in sphagnum, which looks to be very closely packed, but still in good shape. Definitely well-drained. I'm a believer in sphagnum. I love it as a medium, but I'm wondering if I could get level of "closeness" without damaging roots. I've got three different seedling-grade bark-based mix candidates, any of which would probably be fine aside from an adjustment set-back. Comments? Thanks.

How did the repotting go? I end up killing most of the milts I have tried to grow. It is just too warm in the greenhouse here during the summer. The few that struggled along for a bit, seemed to grow well in a bark and coconut husk mix (kept them damp).

    cheers,
    BD

Yes, I have several notches in my gun for milts I've taken out over the years. This time, I just happen to have a indoor front room, on the cool side, which can be shut off from the rest of the house with a space humidifier, ceiling fan and LED tracklights. I mean really, what's not to like if you're a miltoniopsis? For the repotting I just took my time. Tedious work, but I'm a devotee of pure sphagnum moss for moisture lovers inside the house. I did make one mistake though. I backed off just a little too much on the post-repotting water. So the new growths have slight wrinkling at the tips. I caught them in time so it's not severe. Live and learn. Also happy to share that one of the two new growths in early spike. Thanks for asking, BD.
