This hybrid has a lot of different species in its ancestry - three very bright orange/red ones in particular - L.milleri, cinnabarina, and Guar aurantiaca. Two of these at least ( I can't bring milleri to mind exactly enough) tend to have rather narrow scrimped together lips, and I guess the great glorious lip of dowiana ( also there in the background) was not strong enough. Pity, its the only drawback to this - apparently long lasting since I have been waiting 3 weeks for the third spike to start to open before taking the pics - brilliant orchid.
maybe it will improve with practice - this is the first flowering since leaving its native Taiwan ( I think Shinfong is Taiwan ).
Great intense color. Maybe the lip will improve for you
