    Default Paphiopedilum Shin Yi Pride

Here is my spectacular Paphiopedilum Shin Yi Pride, in full bloom now. Oldest flower a week old now, and petals still lengthening..
I love the shape, size, and wiiddee dorsal on this flower

I am maybe going to take it for judging next weekend. It's pretty spectacular, even compared to other AOS award winner photos I've seen of this grex.
I also have another one opening now, double spike. Flowers are going to be shaped differently, with wide petal stance..

What a joke the AOS is. Took both plants for judging...zip. zilch. I was told they "couldn't compete with previously awarded ones." So I guess that skinny, pointy dorsals are in? Wth?

I do know that a goal in roth line breeding is wider dorsals and synsepls, which both of my plants have. When I look at photos of other AOS winners of this grex, some of them are dogs....

How is an average person supposed to know WHAT the judges want?
