When I first met this species (LBJ was in the White House) it was Epidendrum vitellinum. Some years later it was Encyclia vitellina. And now I am told it is a Prosthechea.
Stop the World, I want to get off.....
This year, the best so far ( it was a seedling ex com-pot when I bouight it some years ago) it has 12 flowers and 3 buds. Flowers some 3 or 4 cm across; quite long lasting.
One example of the species I had 20 years ago ( now long gone from something or other) was grown in S/H and actually had a branched spike. Nerver seen before or since. S/H does not work for me now. A pity
