I just bought a catt with thick shiny leaves. While I was admiring it at home I noticed that most of the leaves have some indentations. Some slightly round, some long like faint ridges the length of the leaf. The biggest round one is about 3/8 inch diameter. The leaves are shiny with no discoloration. Is this anything to be worried about?
Thanks for any responses. Clara

the indents are the same shiny green as the leaf.
I can't figure out how to make a photo file small enough to download here...after a half hour I may have shrunk it, but this is what shows up when i try to upload it here. >
Hopefully one of our experts here can shed some light on your issue.
My only guess is perhaps the plant had scale and has been removed leaving the indent.
If it stays green I would not worry about it.
If your concern is the general texture of the leaf, that may have been the result of insufficient water uptake, whether happening due to underwatering or a compromised root system. Another possibility - and the depression closer to the end of the leaf suggests it, since it's still green - is cell collapse, possibly due to the use of cold water for irrigation.
I have to agree with Ray.
That looks like a hydration issue to me. Totally recoverable if it hasn't already started the process.
If it's not in a translucent pot so you can see the roots, I'd re-pot it so you can check the root condition and address that first if you find an issue.
Thanks so much, I'll make sure my water is lukewarm. I just received it thru the mail, so I'm going to let it acclimate for another week before i repot into clear. ( and I'm so thrilled my photo came thru! )
