    Default trichopilia tortilis leaf tips

So the new trichopilia tortilis has been here for a week or 2. He is tiny and I promptly repotted him because he was growing out of the little pot he came in. Anybody have any tips on what this one likes and doesn't like. I think it maybe a while before he gets to blooming size, and I finally know for sure if he is happy or not,

Here is some info that might help regarding your Trpla. orchid.

    Light:
Trichopilia likes light levels of 1125 - 1875 foot candles with filtered, diffused light (shady area).

    Air:
Like most orchids the Trichopilia orchid needs good air movement.

    Day/Night Temps:
85 degrees high during the day and about 15 - 20 degrees drop at night.

    Humidity:
High humidity during the warmer months (above 75%). In the winter it could drop down a bit based on temps but no lower than 50%.

    Good growing!!

    cheers,
    BD

I grow mine in sphagnum. Likes being damp, not dry or wet.

the biggest issue might be the temps as it is growing in my cool window ( hell, in the winter all windows are cool windows up here). It's about 69-70 during day and drops about 10 degrees at night. So far not dying but not growing either. Repotted it immediately and bought some kelp to get it going.

perfect, because I repotted it in a 50/50 mix

I don't think that your temperatures will be an issue, Charity. The Baker culture sheet says it averages 75° days in summer and 58° nights in Panama.

Good to know. The trichopilia sauvis likes it, so I'm hoping they are more similar than different.
