    Default zygonisia watering

So, wondering about exact watering and temps on this one. Some say warm, some say cool. Everyone says lots of water but that scares me.Mine gets about 5 ice cubes(yes i do that and am proud of it. Have for years and works best for my orchids . I can sense some of you scowling at me with that last statement, but like I said it works for my orchids and schedule and keeps the water out of the crowns on the plants.I do flush and fertilize so that is not my only watering method just the norm. Do you think more water is in order???I have new growth and spikes but seems like it could be growing a little faster.

Also, is this one that requires a dryer spell when dormant?

A zygonisia is a cross between zygopetalum and aganisia. There are zygo species that prefer cool, medium or warm conditions. Thee are three aganisia species, but the one from which that vast majority of hybrids have been made, Agn. cyanea, is a warm to hot grower. What that means is that the temperature tolerance will depend a great deal upon which specific hybrid you have...

As to watering, they prefer a constantly moist, airy medium with little to no drying out, so you need to figure out how that works with the potting medium you use, and the condition it's in.

Although it freaks me out, I will increase my watering. I hope it prefers cool because that's what it's getting. I only have one warmish window in the house for it and it's too big to fit. It's a monster 3 foot plant.
