    Default Phragmipedium QF Aloha

A first-bloom seedling of the cross of Phragmipedium QF Naukana Kealoha x Phragmipedium dalessandroi. Just opened, so probably needs a few more days.

    Phrag guy here as well.
Thats a pretty color and a nice big dorsal Ray.

My Sorcerer's Apprentice has been in bloom for awhile now. 2 spikes but the original one has to be 3-4 feet tall now and it just keeps popping out big flowers one right after the other.

Yeah, Sorcerer's Apprentice is a remarkably vigorous plant. I hacked mine up into 5 pieces about 10 weeks ago, repotting my division back into fresh LECA in S/H culture, and its in spike again.

I had an award for my (first) Sorcerers Apprentice, back in 2004 - I have the framed certificate on my wall. In a 10 inch pot, lots of growths, 4 spikes.... Divided it up into four pieces, sold two, grew the other two on. But it took 10 years before I saw another spike....moral here ( for me) is don't do it ! I showed pics of this earlier this year.
My second plant is probably 4n or even an octoploid, came from the Eric Young Foundation ( who did a lot of this chromosome doubling stuff) - much better flowers. Am growing that on - the flowers it had on when I bought it 3 months ago are looking a bit shabby now. Will post a pic next time around.l
