    Default Phragmipedium Fritz Schomburg

First bloom of Phragmipedium Fritz Schomburg.
Unfortunately even more pink than red, but will improve with the next flowers.

Ohhh I love these! I see them at almost every orchid show and drool over the gorgeous things. I just don't have the right set up for these. Lucky you!

I would not ask for it to get redder - its never going to match up to besseae, I would ask for it to get a more salmon-pinkish.
Next time around it may neot have a dented pouch - Judges get quite worked up about that, I have found.

I have got very keen on Phrags - was hoping to get to see besseae and a few others in the wild a few months ago, but I had to cancel my trip when my (late) wife was first ill. Now I am hoping to go in May - won't see besseae, but should see a few others.

Oh that is nice for a first bloom. Hope the next blooming will not have a dented pouch.

    cheers,

You are right. The dented pouch also annoyed me. Let's see how it looks next time
