the first two pics are of my current p[lant , a seedling flowering for the first time ; a guy from Florida ( have forgotten his name) did a little tour in England, visiting a few orchid Societies ( arranged by the very energetic and enthusiastic Chairman,at the time of Wessex O.S. to which I belong, and of course he brought a lot of seedlings, a dozen or so of which I bought. Some have been good, one so far was disappointing - but they were either sib crosses of species or hybrids, and the hybrids were all a bit speculative. Wjateber. I'm well pleased with this one. In a 4 inch octagonal basket.
The third pic, I put in for my own purposes, is of my old plant - now long gone, flowering in 2012. An interesting comparison ; reminds me that a bigger spike is possible as the plant matures, but I am pleased with the clean bright flowers on this new one, better I think than on the Thailand import which is the old plant.

    Nice Geoff.
Love those species that you don't get to see often.

Very pretty! How long have you had it Geoff? Curious how long it took to mature and spike.

I am trying to remember how many years . 3,4,5 ? Have shown it to the guy who organised that visit - he will probably remember. It ws about 6 inch leaf span then, is maybe 12 inch now. I will let you know if and when I get a reply ( as you may know, we are on lock-down - not supposed to travel more than the nearest supermarket, unless one is an emergency worker etc - and the chap I am talking about told me in a mail a week ago, that he has a new toy ( auto) and is desperate to do a journey somehwere to try it out ( and show it off) and wanted to come and see me, but that journey currently would be a crominal offence.....

Geoff the first 2 photos looks like hybrid and I'm thinking primary hybrid between lamellata and luzonica as the petals relatively flatten and wider and the lip color and shape more towards luzonica and if its true hybrid than the name is Vanda Loke.

Thank you so much for this, Zain; by the time it flowered, the plant had lost its tag. I had the thought at the back of my mind that it was not pure lamellata, but a hybrid, but was neither sure, nor could remember the other parent. But now you suggest that, I have no doubt all that you are correct. I'll print a new label now.
