Just finished my surgery with my giant Cattleya yesterday, they try to go out from the rim of old pot,you can see from root bound.i like to have a speciemen size so I looked around for a bigger pot to put.
The orchids itself grow all direction ,so I plant them in the center of the new pot.enough room to grow for a couple year

Good work there Kitty.
Recently I also made the move to nursery field pots for my large specimen cattleyas.
Now, when I want to move them, the weight is all plant as those plastic pots weigh nothing and when it's time to up-pot them again, no remorse about having to cut the pot into pieces to get the plant out! It's been working great for me.
Very nice job Kitty!
Root bound and new bulbs
The new pot is awesome well done Kitty.
