How can I save this beauty?

Today I received Blc. Aloha Mermaid 'NN' and it had very old bark and very old spag that was so dry and hard. I checked the roots and I can only see one tiny, thin root. The leaves are wrinkled.

After I trim the dead stuff from this Cat., what would be the best medium to use while it is in hospital, and should I use rooting stuff?

I can see the leaves is really dehydrated from the long journey , not to worry they are very tough plant from what I see the photo above the green roots still there the chances to recover very high, if I were you especially in tropical climate I have 2 option:
1.At the base of pot I will put charcoal and the plant above at the roots cover with thin layer of sphagnum moss put under the shade within 2 weeks the new roots in optimal condition will appear.
2. I will use fine coconut fiber and stack the plant
so far both technique doing very well here.

I have found THIS to be a very effective rescue technique.

The potting medium you choose should be the one you know works well for you in your growing conditions. When you get new root growth, it’ll “tailor” itself to be optimal in whatever it grows in.

I have this exact plant but the way I grow it may not work for you as I am growing outdoors in a sub-tropical environment and you need to adjust for your conditions.
I use plain old medium sized fir bark and nothing else because I need super good drainage. When I see a plant in the desiccated condition such as yours I'd clean up the roots and hit it with a shot of rooting hormone (I use dip n gro) to give it a jump start. That has always worked well for me. You could maybe try bark but mix in some charcoal and sponge rock and maybe a couple/three sprigs of sphag. but put it at bottom of pot so it acts as a temporary sponge to provide some humidity to the roots between waterings (but not in contact with the roots) if that is an issue for you where you are.
