So, just about three years ago I cut the top off of a pineapple and stuck it in some potting soil and was surprised it started to grow. Well, now, for the first time, we have this...
Now, I just have to figure out how long it takes to get ripe and when to pick it. Also, will the plant survive after it fruits?
cheers,

Nice! Enjoy the fruit!
That is so cool. I believe the fruiting plant does die after it completes the fruiting cycle, but they can produce suckers that will continue on.

I bet it s very sweet and I'm expected at least you can harvest between 3 to 4 weeks from now. Take care from normal predator.
Wow! I am so impressed!
You are going to enjoy that when it is ready. A good way to tell if the pineapple is ripe is to try to pull one of the top leaves off, if it does not come off it is not ready. I was told that by a produce manager at the grocery store.
So, I got so used to seeing pineapple in the grocery store being green, I forgot that they turn orangeish when ripe. haha.. Anyway, here she is all ripe and ready to eat. She smells so wonderful.
Cheers,
