Vanda Princess Mikasa
This is one of the 6 inch leaf span seedlings I bought from Mr. Motes when he visited us maybe 5 years ago. It flowered once before with 2 or 3 flowers, but this year has two spikes, as you can see - and I have a very soft spot for Vandas which will double spike for me.
When I first saw a Princess Mikasa, they were called Ascocendas - Ascocentrum ( very small flowered plants) crossed with large flowered Vandas. Nowadays they are all Vandas. Actually the largest flower on the better spike is almost 3 inch across - which is pretty good for this cross. However, the spike could have a lot more flowers, but it is still not much more than a baby, so a lot of t.i.c, and maybe next year it will.
