Default Are these dendrobiums the same?

I have posted several times photos of my Dendrobium polytrichum. The plant has terete leaves and flowers that fit exactly the description in Cootes’ The Orchids of the Philippines.

Less than a year ago, I acquired a plant with flat leaves that I thought are rather interesting, if only from the foliage point. It bloomed a few days ago, two days before the Dendrobium polytrichum bloomed.

From the photos the blooms are very similar. However the plants are so different in morphology.

Would you think they are the same, or not? Would they be varieties of the same species? If not, any ID ideas for the second plant?

I would say (being such an expert in taxonomy - NOT) that it would be considered different species...

it's a pity that the Dend polytrichum flower is half closed because it may give an indication of the shape of the frontal lobe (?... where all the hairy bits are).... although it does seem that the Dend sp has a more spear shaped frontal lobe.
