An African orchid - the name implies it comes from Guinea. Actually found all the way across to the Nile highlands. In West Africa, apart from Guinea, is found in The Gambia. I was on holiday there once, and tried to find it, but I came to the conclusion that it was too far up river to be feasible, just by hiring a man and boat in the harbour and sailing forth. ( My wife thought I might be at risk from the crocs - rather notorious in that region - most of them bigger than the boat I was looking at.)
Whatever - back to the orchids. This is in a six inch pot, which started off circular, but is being pushed into elliptical by the latest new growth and bulb . A repot due I think.
The plant is annually deciduous - lose all its leaves. Spikes emerge with new growths, when the plant is strong enough etc. Flowers about2 inch high, 1.5 inches wide. This is a very good spike.
I did grow the plant in S/H some years ago at my last house (and got even better results) - which I left 15 years ago. It never seemed to work here - different greenhouse, different ambience - moving from 600 ft above the nearby river valley, down to sea-level here etc. But I intend to try again later this year after erecting my new greenhouse ( cymbidiums only) which is due to arrive next week - and then changing things quite dramatically in the main greenhouse. Watch this spot !
