HI everyone. I have been rather busy -its a long story, I'll try to be brief. My cymbidiums have been grown with automatic watering for a couple of years now, and even when most things were neglected because of my late wife, they grew like mad. So the main greenhouse has got awfully overcrowded. What to do ? Throw away 10% of my plants ? Unthinkable. Can't even take them to any of the Societies I visit now, because of lockdown - meetings banned... So- its obvious - a no-brainer ( especially with no Joyce saying "you can't have another greenhouse...") I bought a new one. 12 x 8 feet, and 9 ft high at the ridge. Lots of room height-wise anyway. They were going to send 2 men to erect it - two very long days for them, and they would know what they were doing. Come lockdown, they sent the greenhouse - they will let me know when ( and" if," I thought...) they could erect. So I did a d-i-y. Of course I am doing it in the time left after doing everything else - shopping ( takes three times as long with social distancing meaning queues to even get into the shop ) - even exercise takes longer with my gym shut, I do walks - a long distance footpath passes through my village - I can get straight on to it, and one day walked 12 miles along it - but that takes a lot more time than my daily 45 minute workout at the gym ( re-opening in 10 days now, thank goodness). And then, when I do work on it, I guess I take a lot longer than they would - puzzling it out. Example - the first two glazing panes ( 6mm twin-wall polycarbonate') I put in upside down - yes it matters, I sealed the bottom with semi-permeable tape, and the top with impermeable tape. Replaced them, and no, I had them inside-out. Outside is UV protected. And so on./ When finished I have all the interior to do - benches, humidity, creating, shading etc. I'll post some pics when it progresses.

So the dendrobium. One of the Antelope types - you can see why. Different, ain't it .

I cannot wait to see the greenhouse progress photos, Geoff! I wish I lived where I could come and help you. I built our new greenhouse in the fall of 2018. It took me about two months working by myself. It is a labor of love though.

And what a unique and beautiful dendrobium.

    cheers,
    BD

One of my favorite forms of dendrobium. Look forward to the work and progress of your new greenhouse, now how long will it take to fill it Geoff?

    Oh I can
N answer that one easily. I doubt if will take all the Cymbidiums at the spacing Iwant .

Got it all up and finished - the greenhouse itself. Started assembling benches. So it’s well on its way.

So much for adding more so the whole project is to make room for Cymbidiums only, been there done that!

I can't believe how active you are Geoff! I wish my mother were at least half as active. She just turned 85 and I encourage her to be as active as she can, but she says it's just easier not to do things. Beautiful Dendrobium. I like the antelope varieties.
