I have a few of this species, different types and a little variation in colour - this is the most extreme. It does have a Japanese varietal name , but I forgot to make a note when I took the pic, and I'm not going out to the greenhouse at 2 am local time .
Had a long chat with one of my sons on the phone yesterday, went to sleep in my chair afterwards - woke and went to bed late, then woke up again at 2 am and - bad habit - came to read my e-mail and just stopped by here.... I'll try some hot milk and go back to bed, now.
    Enjoy my nicest Neo'.

I have 2 from my first - rather poor marriage. Say no more, don’t speak ill of the dead, etc. Then I had a very happy marriage to my 2nd wife, who had 3. None from that 2nd marriage, we were both 50+. But we called them all ‘our children’ , not yours or mine. And from them I now have 8 grandchildren, and I rather lose count, I think 10 great-grandchildren. Apart from the odd black sheep, they are lovely, but they all live a distance away - the nearest is a 2 ½. Hour drive, and one is as far away as a 3 hour flight plus drive.Maybe I shall see them all Next year if I have a big birthday bash(90th) but I am thinking of sneaking off to Laos, or is it Cambodia ? To look at Angkor Wat, with my new girl friend to avoid the fuss , watch this spot !

I would pick the trip over a birthday party, once you have as many birthdays as some of us have had, it just turns into another day. Beautiful blooms
