Default Testament to the effectiveness of the I Forgot I Have Orchids method of orchid care

I had a wonderful vanda. It graced me with blooms every year, sometimes even twice a year and it has grown over a foot tall while its roots have grown 2 feet long. This year, the roots grew so long it grazed the backs of the dogs when they pass by under it, until one day last July, I saw the orchid on the ground.

So I look at the stem and counted 3 fat roots on top and snipped the orchid root ball right off the plant. I threw the root ball, complete with its basket on top of the compost pile.

Today, the 3 roots on the vanda has just grown gangbusters. The vanda is as healthy as it has always been, hanging on the tree outside, pretty much left alone. Except it hasn't given me another bloom this year, which it usually does only a few weeks after the last bloom fades.

But the crazy surprise is... I went to finally care for my compost pile and there's the basket of vanda roots - WITH 2 KEKEIS! So, I took the basket and hung it next to the mother vanda. I'd be super tickled pink if these kekeis will bring me another set of vanda blooms in a couple of years!

On another note, I've tried to nurse this rootless little vanda into obsession. After a month, it still doesn't have roots. Probably should just throw it on top of the compost pile and check on it next year. Hah hah.

Water it twice with a solution of KelpMax @ 1 tablespoon/gallon. It’ll grow roots.
