Default I haven't killed any orchids this year yet!

This year has been my most successful year. I replanted everything to clay pebbles except for the vandas that I left bare root. I also moved them all under a tree in my backyard. My husband installed a mister that runs for 15 minutes everyday.

I am so happy with the orchids that I've gotten my 10th "almost in its deathbed" orchid from the hardware store that they sell me for $5 and they all went gangbusters on producing roots. They probably won't be able to bloom for a year or two or more trying to recover so I'm excited for the future.

    Here's my blooms this year:

    Nice!

I used to kill a lot, but they tend to survive for me now. You can teach an old dog new tricks - just takes a while longer.

Great growing!! I, unfortunately, have let several pass on. We had a big freeze here in Feb (down to -13) and several orchids and tropicals that were against the outside edges of the greenhouse got too cold/froze. The upside is I have some more space in there now and can move some plants to better growing locations. To solve the issue, we have added a couple of additional electric heaters for next winter - hopefully that will keep things from going below 40F.

    cheers

Congrats! I kill at least a few every year. I look on it as a chance to buy a new orchid
