Cattleya seedlings

So my first catt seedling just bloomed. It's quite an ostentatious thing and not quite what I was expecting given the parents, but I'm pleased. Plus, no signs of virus!!!!! It's only it's third bulb, and it bloomed out of the blue on it's first sheath. It has a very long stem and smaller flowers, but only two. Can anyone tell me if catt seedlings tend to develop more flowers as the plant matures or if two is in general what I can expect from now on?

In general you can expect more flowers per spike on a large mature plant, but it also depends on the type of hybrid, what species are involved. There's a lot of variability in the Cattleya alliance. The name of your catt, or a picture of the whole plant, might allow a more specific prediction.

It's got everything in it. It's half Blc. Fordyce fantasy X Pot Burana Love. It's a compact catt

Also sending up a new, half-mature pseudobulb as it blooms, so I think it might be capable of twice a year blooming :/

and I never take pics of the whole plant lol. Should but don't. Guess that's the photographer in me.

If you didn't have the full name the whole plant picture might have been helpful in making an approximate identification. Something to keep in mind if you ever are looking for an ID.

In 21st century classification, both parents are now considered Rhyncattleanthe (Rth.) rather than Blc. and Pot. This cross has not been registered, but would also be Rth. It is most likely capable of at least 5 flowers per spike on a mature plant.

I'm also a little surprised at the appearance of the flower and your description of a long stem - not impossible for those parents but somewhat unexpected.

As a unbloomed( til now) seedling, I don't think it has a registered name. And that is simply how the hybridizer listed it's parentage. It is a bifolate, so yeah lots of flower might be possible. The color surprises me too.

Thank you!!! I like it, but hoping next one will have a couple more flowers. Should see in the summer with that new growth half mature right now.

Thanks Susan. I'm surprised but pleased. When I choose the cross, did not expect these colors.
