This one was a rescue from a big*box*store last year. It was somewhat ignored and dried out. It was cheap enough that it piqued my interest. It was small so I didn't expect blooms this year. It had more buds but the birds apparently found them interesting enough to bite into, and the resulting blooms would have been badly mangled. I saved two of these, and this one had an older growth with variegated leaves on one side only. I don't know if that trait will carry over on to any of the new growth, but I haven't noticed it yet. There seems to be some confusion over the name, too, from what I found online. Some say 'Honolulu Bay'. Also, many of the pics online appear to have been altered to make the bloom appear more blue. The bloom is dark enough to interest buyers without having to 'cheat' on the color.

Here's another photo in morning sun, and it actually begins to show a little more of the blue spectrum.

Mahalo!
I wish the blooms lasted longer.

Amazing ...is long lasting flowers.
I don't think they last too long, 4 weeks I think.
