Beautiful and hard to miss, can not believe at the end of April you are getting freezing temperatures tonight you would think by now that would be over, stay warm!

Was getting the greenhouse ready for the freezing temps tonight when I saw this beauty in bloom with double spikes.
Oncidium splendidum
Cheers,

I'm so glad I did not drag the tropicals (lemon tree, desert roses, etc..) out of the greenhouse yet. I had put away the heaters and opened the window on the door to the screen, but luckily I hadn't hauled the heaters to the barn for summer storage yet. This afternoon I got a bunch of cardboard boxes and clay pots to cover all of the banana trees that are coming up. Most are between 4 and 10 inches tall and all would die with even a light freeze/frost.
Thanks for the comment on the oncidium!
cheers,
BD
Beautiful dancing ladies.
Susan
Well, it sure is purdy! Lotsa nice blooms.
Doesn't look quite like mine, though. Are you sure it is Onc. splendidum?
Gorgeous! Stay warm!
Bruce,
While the coloration is similar, I think what you have there is a hybrid. Lophiaris splendida (Thanks, taxonomists) has no large, barred sidelobes on the lip.
They do seem like dancing ladies in the air! Beautiful!
