    Default Aerides Multiflora

Hard to capture the true color. Not quite as pink as pictures show. A nice lavender. Very happy with this spike given the sick look of the plant

    That's wonderful Sheryl.

I think that if a plant is suffering from something then it becomes vulnerable to something else as well. So when several plants look sick and I don't know what's going on then I treat them with a general pesticide followed by fungicide. I chose to treat the plants late in the day when the sun doesn't hit them directly.

Pick a species, any species but absolutely my favorite genus.
I don't have a multiflora but it's on the list!
    I love that color Sheryl.
My houlettiana had 6 spikes and this was the first time it had bloomed in 10 years. What a show even it bloomed out as 3 spikes then the other 3. Made the show last longer.
That's still my all time favorite orchid and I even brought it north with me for the summer and it's still in bloom. Now hopefully I don't kill it before I can return it to where it wants to be....

BTW- Arne might be on to something, especially the fungicide. I've noticed some black spotting and other "funkiness" this year with some of my "vanda family" plants.
I hit them a couple of times with Captan (fungicide) and there was a marked improvement. I don't know if it was because it was so hot and wet last summer or what it was.

Thank you Leigh. And yes a favorite species of mine as well! How exciting to have your houlettiana bloom after 10 years! That a true test of patience. I have one and it's baby about to bloom I'll be posting soon. Probably 35 years ago before I was interested in orchids my husband's uncle had passed and I remember my mom bringing home from his estate this huge clump of a hanging plant . She hung it on her back porch and I can still visualize all the spikes blooming and the wonderful smell. I don't know what she ever did with it but what I would do to have that big ball of aerides that I'm 99.9% sure that it was
