    Default Orchid Pot Surround

I wanted my phal orchids to get both light and oxygen, which meant not putting their orchid pots in solid containers. Here is my solution, which is working great!

Thanks for sharing, really good solution, I also like to use fertilizer a couple months of the year, then they grow with very lush flowers and it looks great!!!

I awoke with my "professor hat" on, so...

The OP's plants are in plastic pots, so the air getting to the roots is primarily coming in from the top, so an open or closed surround makes little to no difference.

@Sandrahof - plants in nature get fed every time it rains, which can be several times a day in some places seasons, but the nutrient concentration is extremely low. It is better for your plants if you feed regularly at fairly low doses, rather than only a couple months of the year.

All of the plants you see are in sloted OP's, so the get plenty of air on the sides of the containers. Good point about the fertilizer. Thanks! We have hard water here so I am using distilled water with MSU fertilzer-------. So far they all look happy. If they develop flower spikes this winter that will tell the tale. I am new to this, so fingers are crossed. :-)
