Very nice Sheryl. Always the highlight of the season.
I finally got hold of a new one after I lost my old plant to crown rot a couple of years ago. I hope it will bloom next year.

Yes Leigh, for me as well! How was your winter in the Keys and where is it that you reside in the winter?---------- Post Merged at 10:33 PM ----------
Thank you Lutz!
We had a really good winter. Weather-wise it was beautiful as always albeit a bit on the windy side. After a long hiatus from guests during COVID we had a lot of friends and family in and out over the course of the winter which was wonderful. Looking forward to undertaking a total re-design of my shadehouse when I get back down there in October.Yes Leigh, for me as well! I trust you meant to say "summer" in the second part of your question? If so, we have a condo on a small lake in New Hampshire. So far, despite what most of the country has been experiencing, the use of the word "summer" here would be premature at best but it's supposed to start warming up some this weekend. Last weekend it was in the low 40's at night and never got to 60 during the day.
I sometimes bring 1 or 2 plants north with me if they are in bud and I have never seen it in flower before. I have a basement light set-up here that I use as I collect orchids over the summer from visiting OS speakers, etc. and then they all go back to the Keys with me in the fall.
Here is the plant I brought back this year. Sobennikoffia robusta. I had never even heard of it when I bought it this spring. It was at the Key West Orchid Fair (we don't do an AOS judged show). My partner in crime on this one was our KWOS President Jay Pfahl of IOSPE fame. When he saw what I had he asked me "what vanda is that?". When I told him what it was and that it wasn't a vanda he said "really? I've never heard of it. Did you look it up on IOSPE? What did I say about it? Can we grow it here? Where'd you get it? " We really had a good laugh over that one as he ran off to see if the vendor had any more with him. It's a neat plant, medium sized, temp tolerant, interesting flower shape and slight sweet fragrance at night.
Well yes Leigh I did mean the summer. It was past my bedtime when responding And funny that you live in New Hampshire during the summer because my husband and I are starting to look for a place to go during the summers and New Hampshire and Maine have been on our minds. Do you mind if I ask the name of the lake or town? What a beautiful plant Leigh! So unusual! Well enjoy your lovely summer while I melt down here
Gorgeous, Sheryl!
Susan
