Welcome Sarah!
I grew a couple Masd. orchids, but they hated the heat here in Arkansas. I recommend cooler growing with this one.
Cheers,
BD

Hello everyone.
I am a newbie to the orchid world. My first orchid was a Phalaenopsis given to me by mother in law, three years ago. I have always loved growing house plants but had not tried orchids. So started collecting different varieties and have become bold enough to purchase orchids from my local orchid nursery 60 miles away. I recently purchased a Masd. Snowbird and have questions about how to keep it happy and blooming.
Thanks,
Sarah

A warm welcome to you
Welcome, Sarah!
Well….you’ve already fallen into the “new grower trap” of fascination leading you to buy plants because you like they way they look, rather than because they’ll do well in your growing conditions. (There are very few of us that haven’t done that! I’ve been growing for over 50 years, and routinely fight that urge.)
Orchids are definitely “niche plants”, or to put it another way, the “Goldilocks of the plant world”, preferring conditions to be “just right” in all of the cultural parameters. Some are quite tolerant of deviations and some are definitely not.
Do some reading, ask some questions, and analyze your growing conditions, then seek plants that’ll thrive in those conditions, and you’ll be a lot less frustrated (and save a lot of dough!).
