Strange Growth - Wossner Supergrand

Well, while watering today I discovered this unusual little sprout. Is this normal for this cross? Should I unpot the plant and see what's going on? It's still in bloom and I hate to disturb it if not necessary...

Looks like a stolon. It's like a runner that comes from under the crown and pops up away from the plant as a new growth. The Parvis do that a lot. I have a micranthum with one. My Paph Darling just shot up two, which confused me. But I just looked it up and Darling has 25% delenatii.

I know some Phrags will throw stolons, but I don't know which ones are more prone to it. Obviously one of those two!

No need to do anything to it. Congrats on the new growth!

Hmm. My first one to ever do that. I dont know if I like it or not. Paph/Phrag Gurus - can I separate it from the 'mother' plant at some point? Otherwise keeping it appropriately potted is going to be a challenge...

yes you would be able to seperate from the main plant,but consider that it may be the plants new growth for the season.

I wouldn't separate it, but if you need to repot, you can easily move the stoloniferous growth beside the momma plant. It has a long, underground lead that's pretty flexible, so it's easy to accomodate in the same pot.

looks like it might be some type of stolon but that is unusual in phrags. (are there any dead growths between the main plant and that new growth?) phrags are typically more amenable to slight overpotting so I wouldn't remove that unless you see at least a few good roots developing off that end.

No - nothing in between. It really just shot up outta nowhere so to speak! I'll just let it be and see what happens

I buried an old growth on my Phrag Noirmont , the leaves where dried & looked dead.A few months later a new growth sprouted a few inches away from the now main growth so i investigated.After some carefull removal of LECA i could see that the new growth had sprouted from the old buried growth.It was about 6* below the top of the LECA & has since lengthened the stolon so now it sits on the surface .
Maybe something similar has happened to yours.
