    Question ID for this encyclia...

Hi there! A relative gave me this encyclia (about a month ago) as a gift because she's moving of house. This morning started to open its first flowers. Of course, the plant lacks an ID tag.

    Here're some pictures.

My best bet is Encyclia diurna. I think of this one because the plant's bulbs have between 1-3 leaves. My other guess will be E. ceratistes but this one can carry up to 4 leaves (from what I've read) and none pseudobulb of my plant have more than 3 leaves. Flowers of those both are very similar to be honest. I can feel some sort of scent but cannot tell more about it yet, on my experience with orchids, the scent gets stronger in the upcoming days.

I know is always "difficult" to tag an orchid because there could be a lot of hybrids, but any hint about this one would be appreciated as you guys here have more experience than me Thanks!

I looked on Jas's website here: http://www.orchidspecies.com/encdiurna.htm I think you are correct. This looks like Enc. diurna. Your photo is better than his.

    cheers,

Hi! I'll tag this orchid as Enc. diurna
Here's another picture I took when in bloom.

By the way, I hope this orchid survives. I mean, it looks in good condition/shape, but no roots had been growing since my first post and I noticed some bulbs have wrinkled too much.

Be careful to not over water when a plant shows these signs. Try instead to increase the humidity around the plant.

    Cheers,
