Was formerly considered by some to be a variety of besseae, but the staminode is quite different, making the separation valid.

The flowers are just wonderful and I used to grow besseae myself.

But the way besseae and, I assume, dalessandroi grows poses a problem to me. Every new growth takes a step upwards and the plant will look a bit funny after a couple of years unless you figure out a way to deal with it.
