It was a last minute thing, but last weekend we lent the Orchid Society of the Ozarks 14 plants to put into their exhibit at the AOS judged Springfield Missourri orchid show. Of our fourteen plants, seven came away with ribbons (1 First Place, 4 Seconds, and 2 Third Place), and two of our Paphs. got pulled for AOS judging. One of those got awarded the AOS Highly Commended Certificate (HCC) with 77 points! It was quite a weekend, and I have to say, a completely unexpected piece of success. The OSO's entire exhibit took a First Place ribbon overall.
I just wanted to thank Tom and Barbara Larkin, as well as Barbara Chance, for driving all the way out here to collect some plants for the exhibit, and for doing such an awesome job with the display. You folks are the best.....

Thanks Traci... Hopefully it's just one of many more to come!
I just wanted to chime in about the latest awards for River Valley Orchidworks, INC.
You folks kept telling us that our orchid plants were award quality. So, On March 19-21, we entered our first commercial exhibit in the Arkansas Orchid Society show in Little Rock, Arkansas. Here we put in a table top display. We entered 21 plants and won 4 first place awards, 4 second place awards, and two third place awards. We also won the best flowers in the oncidiinae class trophy as well as best commercial table top exhibit. In addition to all of these honors, we had another of our plants pulled by the American Orchid Society judges for consideration! It was still a young plant, so finally didn't have enough blooms to qualify after they researched, but we have had an awesome few weeks! Thanks for all the encouragement! Your belief in River Valley Orchidworks honors us more than any award we win.
Cheers!

This is our Paph. that got the HCC/AOS in the Springfield MO orchid show. It's an unregistered hybrid we're naming 'Baybay' lol!! (The name's an inside joke--don't ask......)
That is so beautiful!!
Lja, is that a picture of you??
I *have* to ask, what is the joke about ???
lol! Yes, that's a picture of me. I enabled the boards so you can put avatars next to your posts if you want.
All I can say about the joke (without getting into a MESS of trouble) is that it's a term of endearment, kind of like calling someone "baby..."
That is a nice pic, you are alot younger than I imagined. Don't take offence though, for some reason, all of the orchid collectors/ growers I have met are are all, er, a bit older.
No offense taken: I'm flattered. Actually, I'm 42, and that picture was taken 3 years ago when we were on a cruise in the Caribbean. (It was one of the formal nights, and I had on the white tux, just shaved, hair combed...) So all that really means is, I clean up relatively decently. :lemmetell
Here's what I look like with glasses, unshaven, uncouth, and messing around being silly with our nieces.... (Just so you don't get the impression I'm some kind of James Bond debonair orchid-grower... ) lol!
