My Aeranthes grandiflora or spinosa or whatever-it-is presently has two flowers on two separate spikes. Night fragrant of butterscotch.

No kidding! I'd want to get one just for the smell! Prem, do those bloom sequentially or is it one flower per spike?
Stunning flower Prem, and fantastic photo!
Louis,
the spikes bloom sequentially, and more spikes are added over time....a mature plant can support dozens of spikes with numerous blooms all open at once. Spikes also tend to start out longer as the plant gets more mature, so the impression from any distance is a horde of green goblins suspended in mid-air bobbing about the central plant...the very wiry spikes themselves become virtually invisible from any distance.

Great description and wicked cool photo....so the impression from any distance is a horde of green goblins suspended in mid-air bobbing about the central plant...
Yeah it is. Thanks Prem. Gonna have to check Andy's to see if maybe he's got one. That's something I'd definitely like to grow.
Andy's only has Aer. arachnites on their listing.
Countryside has Aer. ramosa on their listing.
Carolina orchids carries a few Aeranthes species, but not grandiflora.
Hoosier orchids carries seedlings of Aer. grandiflora, as well as a few others.
Bergstrom carries Aer. grandiflora, but I've heard mixed reviews of them...some love them, some hate them.
If you're specifically looking for the species A. grandiflora, beware anyone selling an A. grandiflora 'Shooting Star'...Shooting Star AM/AOS is a cultivar name for the hybrid Aeranthes Grandiose, which is a hybrid of A. grandiflora and A. ramosa.

With so many vendors online now, it's always good to get firsthand recommendations. Thank you Prem!
Yeah...I think I might have to get one, too. There's just something witchy about it. I like the ramosas, too. Do you grow those also, prem?
