Are 1.5" long millipedes a danger to roots? There are a bunch of them in many of my pots.

In my one paph. a white mold similar, if not identical to the white mold you find in piles of rotting leaves is all through the soil. The paph has just started a flower spike so I would just as soon delay repotting until after blooming.

Is there a time in orchid growth cycles when Orthanex is contraindicated?

Well, If I found even tiny millipedes in my pots I'd be in a insecticidal frenzy, but I don't like most insects. As for the white mold, I would repot now, even though it is in bud. The flower could drain the last of the plants ability to deal with the mold/mealies/whatever. I've repotted plants in bud and they usually do fine.

If it is bark sounds like snow mold , you might be able to cut peroxcide with a 1/4 water and pour it thru . Straight peroxcide can be used but not sure if straight would harm the bloom . might be a fix until it is through blooming . It should kill the millipedes too . Gin

That does sound harsh, Gin. I have never heard anything like that before. But since I have heard only one tenth of one percent of what is standard orchid culture (probably less) I will burn some incense at my shrine to St. Patrick Starfish and give it a try.

I found out about the peroxcide on a forum of people that grow a certain type of plant ... think No. Ca. and hydroponics .. after it fizzes it reverts back to water . kills fungus knats too . No I am not a member of (that ) forum . G

All true, It's just that smell makes it seem like it would be too chemically.
