    Default Brsa. Memoria Bert Field

This is a primary hybrid between Ada aurantiaca a bright orange species related to the spider orchids x Brassia verrucosa. The genus is Brassada.

Diane posted pics not too long ago when hers was in bloom, but I had to jump through so many hoops before a certain vendor would send me one in spike, that I figured it's earned its own thread!

    Thanks, all!

The color intensified dramatically as the flowers matured. I wonder if aurantiaca does that, similar to Bl. Richard Mueller hybrids.

It opened more a greenish yellow, but I kept showing it pictures of Diane's urging, "Do this, do this!" And it obeyed!!! That its nearest neighbor took the long walk to the salad shooter really snapped the color up in no time...

Thanks, Doc Spock! As we now have two Julies on the forum, I shall adopt Mehera's suggested moniker and sign off as McJulie. Of course, technically that would be incorrect. 'Mac' and 'Mc' come from the Gaelic, 'Mhic,' which means, 'child of.' But hey...literary license!

Maybe I should try that!!! Gorgeous blooms, McJulie. How big are the flowers and the plant?
