    Default My new zygopetalum ...?

Hi everebody I just got home with my new conquest .
I'm happy like a child....and happy to share it with you.

I know is a zygopetalum but don't know more then that....any idea on the complete ID?
It has a delicate scent like a flowery eau de cologne...

The photo it's not great but I couldn't wait until daylight tomorrow.

Is it a difficult plant for a beginner ?...and not even the best of the class....

Hi Breeze! Congrats on the zygo--I have considered trying them too. They sure are pretty!

That's a beautiful variation of color on that flower, very pretty. Zygo's aren't all that hard to care for. At least from what I have experienced. The ones that I have are a little wierd... if you catch them at right part of the day they smell like poison. Very wierd! Congrats on your new find

A beautiful bloom!!! Lovely dark colours - the 'blue' lip and dark tepals are striking features... not to mention the scent! Yum!

As far as the name is concerned... these group have been hybridised a fair amount as well... so you've got a choice between any of the hybrids including Artur Elle; Titanic; Helen-ku.

Good growing and enjoy the flowers and scent...

the basic culture for these is:--
    1)Shade
2)moisture , keep moist all year
    3)cool - cold

I am looking after about 140 for my son and they are under two shelves of odonts which are under 70% shade cloth . This might give you an idea of where and how I growing them.
