That sounds great! I'm looking forward to hear about (and see) the results! I've been reading more about making medium in the kitchen and I'm now sure it is a good idea to add a little 20-20-20 fertilizer (but just A LITTLE!)

I'm looking so much forward to my Burana Beauty pod matures!

I'm gonna do it tomorrow in my lab at work. I hope I remember the banana, honey, and fertilzer. I've got everything else in the lab.
I just hope my seeds are still viable. I'll take pics!

You may also try this homemade media formula. I tried and it worked. Not as good as commercial media; however, you may got protocorms.

    Sugar: 20g/Lit
Fertilizer: 3gram 20-10-20 soluble, no urea (urea is not good for seed germination). According to some sources, this is almost the same MS formula.
    Bannana: 100g/Lit
Coconut water: 100ml/Lit fresh from grocery store.
Vitamin: 1 tablet of centrum /Lit
Distillated water: add to make 1 Lit
    Agar: 8-10g/Lit
    PH: 5.2

You work with the lab you may try Vacin & Went media, it's easy to make. If you need the formula I will write it for you. Remember to take pictures. Good luck!!!!!! Have FUNNNNNNNNN.

This is the modified Vacin & Went formula for orchid: all in mili-gram per liter
    1. Ammonium Sulfate: 500 mg/L
    2. Calcium Phosphate, Tribasic 200 mg/L
    3. Na2EDTA: 37.26 mg/L
    4. Ferrous Sulfate-7H20 27.8 mg/L
    5. Magniesium Sulfate 122.1 mg/L
    6. Manganse Sulfate, H2O 5.0875 mg/L
    7. Potassium Nitrate 525 mg/L
    8. Potassium Phosphate, Monobasic 250 mg/L
    9. Agar 7000 mg/L
    10. Sucrose (Sugar) 20,000 mg/L
    11. Thiamine-HCL 0.4 mg/L

Use 28.67 gram to prepare 1 Liter. Adjust pH to 5.8. Add 1 gram (or 1000mg/L) activated charcoal (good for germination). Many people use this formula for orchids especial Phal, Den, and Cat.

    Unhappy

    Just lost my seedpod!

It started turning yellow and redish just 3 weeks after pollination, and this morning it was lying on top of the medium . I just pollinated some other plants last week - they better hold on to their pods!

korxi ,i am doing breeding as well but within the oncidium alliance. The failure rate there is about 80% and the seed pod is on the plant for 12 months.
So dont let this failure put you off.

Phew that's some test of patience! Must be a pain if it drops after 11 months I sure hope I will have a higher success rate - maybe I should stay of the oncs in the beginning!
