Actually, in nature Paph sanderianums grow in full direct morning sunlight to early afternoon sun and then bright shade the rest of the day. They do require very bright light to bloom. I have seen in-situ pics of Paph sands with their leaves looking burnt and yellow. The same goes for roths but I think roths grow in even more full direct sun.

We all have a few blemishes in life..your sand. will be fine..after all it is rigid, herculean and uncut! Hope that "quickie", was good for you..it certainly wasn't for the sand. ! It probably will bloom now...too scared not to..probably thinking what's this guy going to try next!
