    Default Cym sinense 'Pacific Ocean'

Cymbidium sinense is a terrestrial orchid whose native habitat spreads from India through Thailand and into Taiwan. It has a very nice fragrance. This one has some mild variegation to the edge of the leaf.

That's a lovely Cym, Ron! How large does it grow, how temp tolerant is it, and how would you describe the scent?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

The spike is just over a foot tall. Blooming just higher than the leaves. It is a fairly new plant in my collection and I am growing it intermediate. I understand that it fairly temp tolerant from cool to warm growing. I am not one to be capable of describing scents accurately...but it was earthy and pleasent. I got 2 of them this fall, the other has very highly variegated leaves, it doesn't look like that one will bloom this year.

Well it is a "Chinese" Cym.species which are smaller than what is usually divided as standard or mini Cyms. It is like Cym ensifolium. Here is a page from the internet on this species Cymbidium Species - Stephen Early

Hey Ron, show us a pic of the variegated foliaged one too. I think foliage is just as important as the blooms. Highly varigated plants are more difficult to bloom I've read and require perfect growing conditions, but they look pretty all year.
