Hello. Glad to see you back!
We have spent the last several days working to get a major issue repaired on our dedicated server. We are now on a new hard drive with more storage space. We have also upgraded all of our software to the latest versions available.
I will post more details soon. I need to do some serious back-ups now that we are back online again. I know a few hours of data has been lost, but hopefully it was not much.
Cheers,
BD
thank you very much BD
Yeay Bruce! Thank you!
Thank goodness! I was going into withdrawal!
We missed you BD ! It really is fast now Gin
Thanks folks. I was really worried for awhile there. I was beginning to think they would never get the upgrades complete. It cost a pretty penny, but hopefully everything will work much better and be more secure.
What really scared me was that because I was so busy with work over the last several days, the last time I did a full backup of our information was on the 12th. I was worried we were going to loose the data back until that time. I spent most of yesterday downloading as much as I could to my home computer. We also rented an additional server and transfered as much as we could over there until the upgraded hardware was installed and we could see if everything was going to work. (It has been a scary, expensive, few days!...lol)
Thanks for everyone's patience while we got this all worked out. I cannot believe how much faster everything is too!
Cheers,
BD
Thanks for all of your hard work!

Wow Bruce, sounds like quite an undertaking! You don't realize what a comfort Orchid Talk is until you can't get in. :-) Bruce, with the servers down, how are we able to see the "message" screen?
The server was never totally down. (Except for a few minutes). We had to turn off access to the forum so that we could attempt to back up as much of the data as possible before they wiped the hard drive. The message screen only appeared to people who were using FireFox and Opera. Maybe some other browsers, but not IE. IE would attempt to load the page but would see the DNS error and void the loading.
Cheers,
BD
