Red face Here you go Becky....

This is my growing area.. or should I say these are my growing areas? I too felt very intimidated looking at the previous thread showing pictures of everyone's super growing areas.

My dining room, which is where the most light is. The majority of these plants are actually Fuchsias, which I have grown mostly from cuttings. I am trying to create some fuchsia standards for the garden, which is why there are 3 really tall ones in the left of the picture. This is where the two Catts, two vandas and one phal live.

My bathroom - definitely the darkest room of the lot, am only keeping the plants in here for part of their blooming time. They get lots of humidity from the shower, but although the room faces SW, the light is blocked by our neighbours building until late afternoon.

My Kitchen: currently home to 1 miltonia (growing happily - no wrinkles), 3 phals - there's another hanging in front of the kitchen door (which is glass), the remaining paphs, Iwanagara Appleblosom, a Fittonia, a maidenhair fern and some other plant I don't know the name for, and then some Mint, thyme and parsley. The herbs are awaiting transplant outside when the temperatures rise a bit overnight. The other non-orchid plants were given to me in big planted display with an anthurium (Still alive) and a poinsettia (dead as a dodo) at Christmas by the fire officers at work. For some reason they like me..???

Lastly, my living room. As I spend a lot of time in the evening in this room, I wanted to enjoy some of my plants, even though again it doesn't really get bright light until the afternoon. My favourite in here is the smartissimo which is huge. A load of it's buds blasted when I brought it home in february, if they hadn't it would be magnificent. As it is, it is still wonderful and keeps surprising me with more buds!

And Becky, in October last year - I was just like you - I had only 1 windowsill of orchids. Now look what 6 months has done to me...... It could be you soon!

    thanks BD.

I've had the little chair since i was a child - I think it used to be mine. It was plain old grey wood once upon a time, but I painted it a few years ago and won't let it go. It has moved with me a couple of times, and has been used mainly as a footstool or mini step stool, but it really likes the fact that it is now home to an orchid with spots the same colour as it!

A certain swedish furnishing store is responsible for the other two plant tables - I have also discovered they are very handy in the garden for drinks by a deck chair!

Your growing areas are so much fun!! I'm certain that if I lived in a house, every possible inch of usable growing space would be covered with orchids too, as well as other random house plants and cuttings that I seem to accumulate :-)

People must be so fascinated when they come to your home! Its like a botanical garden !! That little mini chair really is cute, too- it compliments the color of the phal well :-)

I really DO hope that my growing space(s) look like that soon- it'll mean that I've surely accomplished something wonderful!!

Since I know everyone loves to see pictures, I thought I'd take some of my growing windowsill now...and it hasn't even been a month since my first post about this! hahaha...

Your growing areas are so lush and full of blooms! I wish I had some pretty bloomers to share, but, alas. However, my wonderful orchid-friendly hubby has thoughtfully built a home for the 'chids so maybe it won't be long now! Although not quite finished, and FAR from full, the babies seem to be enjoying the sunny days. The shade cloth allows only 30% shade (I keep the less sun loving 'chids on the deck) so I may be adding another layer as the summer bears down. Oh, and the shelves (or benches) and many hangers have yet to be added. Much to do! But I'm ecstatic.

I would be ecstatic too at the thought of getting the plants outside so I can have more!
