Forum Upgrade in Process...

Hi Folks,

Today was spent cleaning up code and getting ready for another much need update to our orchid forum. Later this evening, the boards will be turned off for a few hours so we can complete the upgrade. We will do a backup before turning off the boards, so everything should be right where you left it.

This upgrade will bump us up to the newest software available and we will attempt to add in a CMS (content management system) that will allow the publication of member articles, gallery images, and lots more. The goal tonight is to update the main forum software. The CMS additions will be icing on the cake if we are able to complete them.

Once we are back on-line, if you notice any bumps/bugs, please let me know by replying to this thread.

Lol, Kerry! Yes it worked. I have some bugs to work out with a few things before they are ready for the membership, but the major security update, etc worked and only took less than an hour to configure.

Thanks! I am so excited about the software I am working on today; I am about to bust. I think it will add so much to the forum and our membership here will love it too. I hope it will help make OrchidTalk the stop for long-time orchid enthusiast and new growers alike here on the web. Our membership is steadily growing and that is because of all the knowledgeable folks who participate so actively in this community. These new additions should allow us to organize information in a much more accessible and easy to navigate way. (okay, enough chatter from me - back to work! )

I have the play PROOF opening this Thursday, so my time is very limited this week, but I hope to get it finished and available to all of you as soon as possible. The integration with the forum software is a bit tricky, but I am working it out - (however slowly... lol) Stay tuned!
